Audio Echo or Noise

If you hear echo, static, feedback, or other unwanted noise during a call, it usually indicates a problem with your audio setup or environment. These issues often stem from how your microphone, headset, or surroundings are configured.

Symptoms

  • Echo, feedback, or static during a call
  • Background noise or distortion in audio
  • Delays or overlapping voices between participants

Causes

  • Low microphone volume leading to increased sensitivity and noise pickup
  • Noisy environments such as open offices or echo-prone rooms
  • Proximity to other agents on the same or nearby calls
  • Noise-canceling headsets not configured properly
  • Wireless headset interference or Bluetooth instability

Troubleshooting Steps

  • Check Microphone Placement and Volume

    • Position your microphone close to your mouth to isolate your voice.
    • Adjust your mic input levels to be strong but not distorted.
    • Avoid sharing microphones between users.
  • Reduce Room Noise

    • Move to a quieter environment or one with sound-absorbing materials.
    • Close doors or windows to limit external sounds.
    • Avoid hard surfaces that reflect sound and cause echo.
  • Manage Proximity Between Agents

    • If you and another agent are on the same call and seated closely, feedback loops can occur.
    • Move farther apart or lower your headset volume.
    • Adjust your microphone sensitivity to reduce pickup from nearby voices.
  • Use Quality Headsets

    • Use a wired headset when possible for stable audio quality.
    • Ensure your headset supports noise cancellation or echo suppression, and that these features are enabled.
    • If using wireless or Bluetooth, ensure the headset is fully charged and paired cleanly.
