Troubleshoot: Bot Messages in Wrong Teams Chat

If users in Microsoft Teams are seeing Revenue.io Bot messages and meeting reminders in a group chat, It’s possible someone in the group may have accidentally added the bot to the group.

How to Fix the Issue

The solution involves two main steps:

  1. Removing the Revenue.io Bot from the group chat (done once)
  2. Each user individually reconnecting with the bot

Step 1: Remove the Revenue.io Bot from Group Chat

Note: This step needs to be performed by either the group chat creator or a user with MS Teams admin privileges.

  1. Open the MS Teams group chat where the issue is occurring
  2. Click on the “View and add participants” option near the top right of the screen
  3. Look for “Revenue.io Bot” under the “Agents and bots” section
  4. Click the X icon to the right of “Revenue.io Bot” to remove it from the chat
  5. You should see a confirmation message in the group chat confirming the removal

Step 2: Reactivate Bot in the App Chat

Important: After the bot is removed from the group chat, the user that originally invited the bot must complete the following steps for the bot to post in the app Chat:

  1. Find or open your personal Revenue.io Bot chat in MS Teams
  2. Type “settings” in the chat with the bot
  3. This will reconnect the bot to your individual user profile
  4. Your meeting recording prompts will now only appear in your personal chat with the bot
