User Business Hours
User business hours define the start and end of each Guided Selling user’s working day in Salesforce. Guided Selling uses these hours to control when automatic email actions are sent. Emails scheduled as automatic actions send only within the action owner’s business hours.
Why business hours matter
Setting your business hours helps ensure:
- Automatic emails go out only during your working day.
- Outreach feels timely and appropriate for your recipients.
- Guided Selling respects the cadence and timing you prefer.
Before you start
- You need access to your Salesforce
Personal Informationsettings. - Business hours are set per user and apply to that user’s automatic email actions.
Set your start of day and end of day
Open Salesforce Settings
- In the top-right corner, click your profile avatar or name.
- Select
Settings.
Go to Personal Information
- In the left sidebar, under
My Personal Information, clickPersonal Information.
- In the left sidebar, under
Update your business hours
- Scroll to
My Work Information. - Set your
Start of DayandEnd of Day.
- Scroll to
Save your changes
- Click
Saveto apply the updates.
- Click
Verify your hours
- Return to
Personal Informationand confirm your Start of Day and End of Day are correct.

How Guided Selling uses these hours
Guided Selling checks the business hours of the participant action owner (the Guided Selling user). Automatic email actions send only during that user’s configured start and end times.
Tips and best practices
- Set realistic hours that match your actual availability.
- Review your hours after time changes (e.g., daylight saving time).
- If you share ownership or use delegation, remember that emails follow the action owner’s hours, not the participant’s hours.
Troubleshooting
Automatic emails are sending at the wrong time
- Confirm your Start of Day and End of Day settings are correct.
- Verify the action owner is the expected Guided Selling user.
- Make sure your Salesforce time zone is set correctly (this impacts how hours are interpreted).

Do business hours affect manual emails?
No. Business hours only govern automatic email actions in Guided Selling. Manual sends are not restricted.
If I update my hours, does it apply immediately?
Yes. Once you save, Guided Selling uses the updated hours for future automatic email actions.
