The Participant Action Status field provides visibility into each action’s readiness, behavior, and outcome. You’ll find a list below detailing each possible Status and it’s meaning:

StatusWhat It MeansWhen You’ll See It
CompletedThe action was finished successfully.A user performed the action.
InitiatedThe action has been started but not completed.A user has taken some step toward performing the action.
Auto SkippedThe system skipped the action automatically. The participant opted out, or the system determined the action wasn’t needed based on skip rules.
Manually SkippedA user or admin skipped the action manually.Someone actively chose to defer the action for reasons outside of automated logic.
Not ActionableThe action can’t be completed due to ownership or delegation issues. The assigned user is inactive or the action is assigned to a fallback user (e.g., delegation).
UpcomingThe action is scheduled for a future time.It is not yet time to perform the action.
On EngageThe action is ready to be performed now.The scheduled time has arrived or passed, and no blocking criteria are holding it back.
Sending SoonThe system is preparing to send or auto-complete the action shortly. The action is automated, ready to go, and not blocked by conditions.
Sending Soon – Pending CriteriaThe system will send the action once criteria are satisfied. The action is automated, but may still be waiting on conditions to be met. Check the batch jobs and the action’s criteria if it’s been due longer than expected.
On Engage – Pending CriteriaThe action is due, but waiting on conditions before it becomes performable. It’s time to act, but criteria or rules must still be satisfied. Check the action’s criteria if it’s been due longer than expected.
PausedThe participant is temporarily inactive within an active sequence, or the sequence itself has been deactivated. The sequence is running, but the participant is not currently eligible to take further actions.
Active Status ErrorThere’s an unexpected issue with the action’s setup or participant status.A fallback for when expected logic conditions aren’t met—used for diagnosing problems. Contact Support for assistance.
Invalid Sequence ActionThe action record doesn’t correctly connect to its original sequence definition. This may occur when the parent sequence action is missing or corrupted. Contact Support for assistance.
Invalid Sequence or AssociationThe action isn’t tied to a valid participant or sequence. There’s missing or broken setup data linking the action to the rest of the system. Contact Support for assistance.
